Liverpool Displacement and Identity

This was a community lead project across 2021 to 2022 about people's memories and stories about Liverpool. It is home to a collection of poetry, photography, articles, short prose and interactions from the people of Liverpool. This project was put together based on the regeneration projects of the 1970's focusing on battling the feelings of identity loss and displacement after families were moved away from Liverpool. It was also open to those who felt a sense of identity attached towards Liverpool whether that be from families ties or having lived in the city for a short period of time.

The Life of Commodor Rod Walker

CEO of Archibald bathgate ltd, Rod Walker grew up playing with machinery, he had a love of learning and turning his hand to anything and everything. I had the pleasure of meeting with him and taking a tour around their quarys. I was lucky enough to get to know all about the extrordinary life Rod has lived, from his time in the navy, to his education, becoming an accountant, to all the business he's tried his hand at. Rod is a true gentlemen and was a pleasure to get to know and write his life story.

This internship spanned over the summer of 2022 in preparation for the bicentenary. Over the course of the summer Emily and her colleague worked with the corporate comms team and the Start-up hub to collate a list of alumni students who have set up successful businesses through the Start Up programme. These candidates were then interviewed and assisted in creating a series of case files to celebrate the success and achievements of LJMU students and the entrepreneurial skills they have to offer. The start-up skeem allows students and alumni the chance to pitch their business ideas, create business plans and market research. they have a series of skilled industry professionals and mentors that aid the students. This program can be accessed for up to 5 years after students graduate and also has connections with the Bathgate fund.
